Filipinodillo sp. 'Banahaw' - Banahaw, Banahao, Giant Banahaw
Banahaws are one of the OG Filipino Giants. They are huge. Wide, thick, and can grow over 3cm long. They are definitely in the running for the largest rolling isopod.
They have a very distinct shape. Chunky like Armadillo officinalis, face plates like Rubber Duckies, and wide flat edges like Porcellio werneri.
Banahaws have a distinct pattern: a solid dark stripe down the middle, sitting between a light top half and a darker bottom half. As they grow, a brown, camouflage-like pattern begins to form. By the time they reach adult size, they’re mostly dark brown or black, but you can still see that Banahaw stripe.
Size - Adults easily reach over 3cm.
Difficulty - [3/5] - Good for experienced keepers. These are sensitive to humidity, and ventilation issues.
Special Care - These will breed readily in a basic isopod setup with moisture on the higher end. Keep 70-80% of the substrate surface moist.
Cultures are sent in mixed sizes (juveniles to subadults). Do not expect fully-grown specimens.
